Description
This lesson focuses on teaching Relating Processes which can be used to describe by relating Participants (who or what) to their attributes. This lesson plan uses the picture book Bowerbird Blues by Aura Parker.
Process types, such as relating Processes are found in the Australian Curriculum explicitly in Years 1-3. However, revision of this concept can assist students in senior years to identify sentence types and develop their descriptive writing.
The lesson includes teacher instructions for a planned exploration, modelling prompts, a group shared experience, independent practice and a printable activity. This lesson plan is based on a gradual release of responsibility model and a deconstructing and reconstructing teaching and learning cycle.
