This course combines my two favourite topics; picture books and functional grammar! This course explores a number of picture books that can be used to teach a range of functional grammar concepts. Resources to locate quality picture books will be shared. Finally, workshop participants will learn how to identify picture books that can be used to model functional grammar concepts, thus building their own collection of picture books.

This course focuses on literacy planning approaches that incorporate functional grammar. In this course, participants will develop an understanding of how to plan for literacy across a range of year levels, incorporating reading and writing.
